How They Met
“Karan is from India, and I am from New Zealand. We met at a friend’s party and ended up talking all night. A Facebook friend request followed soon after and we chatted almost every day for the next two years. Both of us could feel the connection; however, initially, we were too stubborn to admit it because we lived in different countries and a long-distance relationship could come with some problems. But as they say, you don’t decide who to fall in love with, it just happens on its own and when you least expect it! So we gave in and watching our bond grow ever since has been one of our most cherished experiences.”
Wedding Planning
“Our wedding was photographed by Dipak Studios. When it comes to wedding photography, there are a lot of options available out there, and it is very easy to make the wrong choice. However, when we saw Dipak and his team’s work, we realized very quickly that they are head and shoulders above anything we had ever seen before. We gaped at the photos in his portfolio, and when we saw our own, we were thrilled! They are all so good that we can’t stop recommending him to others!”
Wedding Functions Bhajan Sandhya
“Going with the traditional mood of this function, I chose an ombre Banarasi lehenga with orange and peach shades. As for the makeup, the idea was to let the look be very fresh and in sync with the shades of my attire. Therefore, I created a soft, romantic look for myself using peach eyeshadow and muted pink lips.”
Mehndi
“For my mehndi, I wanted to wear something unique that I could cherish forever. Since the theme for the function was ‘An Evening in Greece’ with the decor in blue and white, I thought of going with an Indo-Western creation by Roli Maheshwari. I opted for a turquoise skirt and paired with a hot pink top covered in mirror work. Not only did it look great, but it was also very easy to carry! I completed the look with mirror jewellery and added a pretty hairband to the mix. Since my ensemble was so striking, I decided to let my makeup be natural with flawless skin, classic eyeliner and pink lips that did the trick.”
Cocktail Party
“This was a glittering night for which I wanted something that would make a statement so I opted for a bottle green gown by Roli Maheshwari Cocktail & Couture. The fabric was embellished with sparkling sequins and beads, and it even had a trail. This outfit was dramatic, yet delicate and reminded me of a modern-day Cinderella story! Smokey eyes with nude lips and a distinctive natural glow was my beauty look for this event. Classic and sexy, the look was perfect for a cocktail night!”
Haldi
“I picked a simple, bright yellow lehenga for my haldi and paired it with floral jewellery with golden accents. My makeup was very minimal and comprised only of mascara and lipstick.”
Wedding
“I wanted to steer away from the usual reds and pinks that most brides opt for on my wedding day and I fell in love with a beautiful peach lehenga with intricate work. I paired this with a beautiful red and gold Banarasi dupatta, and the ensemble looked regal! As a makeup artist, I believe that every bride should enhance her features on her big day instead of hiding them under gaudy, unflattering makeup. Once again, I created my look since I knew exactly what I wanted. I gave myself a soft bronze smokey eye and balanced it with a deep red pout and glowing skin.
Advice for Brides-To-Be
“It’s not the heavy outfits and jewellery, but your confidence that will make you stand out. So don’t be afraid to experiment. Let your outfits be lightweight so that you can move around and dance easily. It’s your wedding, and you should be able to have fun! Also, listen to yourself. A lot of people will give you a lot of opinions and while you can take those into account, in the end, be sure to do what you want because you don’t want to have any regrets later.” The Wedding Makers
